Global Action to Prevent War

Global Action to Prevent War

Founded in 1999, Global Action to Prevent War is a transnational network of organizations dedicated to ending armed violence and severe human rights violations through policy analysis and collaborative action. Global Action grounds the goal of peace and human security in a phased, integrated 3-4 decade program of steps in the areas of conflict prevention, nuclear and conventional disarmament, and building a culture of peace. This program and its timetable demonstrate concretely how we can move from a global system based on conflict and power relations to one based on international law and multilateral institutions. Recognizing that much of our work is influenced by gendered notions of security, and that war, genocide, and armed violence have disparate impacts on women and men, Global Action actively affirms and promotes the implementation of Resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security. Increasing the leadership of women in conflict prevention and conflict resolution processes, as well as overcoming gendered perceptions of warfare is at the core of Global ActionÕs peace and security agenda.
