Past Coordinators
Gina Torrey
Gina Torry was the Coordinator of the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security from May 2005-July 2008. She holds a Masters of Science in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with a concentration on international human rights law and the sociology of development, and a BA in Comparative Literature from the American University of Paris (France). Prior to joining the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security, she worked on gender equality issues relating to social and economic policy in the Gender Unit in the Global Policy Section of the Division of Policy and Planning at UNICEF Headquarters. As a member of the Africa Program at the Center for Reproductive Rights, Ms. Torry coordinated communication with African partner organizations and conducted research for a project that used the human rights framework to address HIV/AIDS and PMTCT in Botswana.

Elspeth Montgomery
Elspeth Montgomery was a Program Assistant with the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security from January 2007-July 2008. Prior to joining the NGOWG, she interned at Femmes Africa Solidarité. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and International Affairs, with a concentration in Latin America Studies. Ms. Montgomery has worked in Peru on sustainable development projects, researched undocumented student's access to higher education and advocated for immigration law reform in the United States with the Rocky Mountain Peace & Justice Center. She traveled to Kyrgyzstan with the NGOWG for a Training Workshop entitled, "National-level implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security". She is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Global Studies at New York University with a focus in sustainable development.
Rebecca Chiarelli
Rebecca Chiarelli, former Program Assistant to the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security, is currently pursuing her Master of Arts Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Stony Brook University, where she is learning to design and implement workshops to raise cross-cultural awareness. Prior to joining the NGOWG, Ms. Chiarelli interned at the PeaceWomen Project of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, United Nations Office. There, she researched women, peace and security issues in the African region, along with monitoring and reporting on the 33rd Session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women at United Nations Headquarters.
Jessica Brown
Jessica Brown is a graduate of Columbia University in New York, where she double-majored in Religion and Human Rights Studies with an emphasis on women's and indigenous rights issues. She was a Program Assistant at the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security before joining California Interfaith Power and Light-an environmental non-profit organizing public policy advocacy on behalf of California's faith community. She will complete a Masters Degree program in Ethics and Social Theory at U.C. Berkeley's Graduate Theological Union in the Spring of 2008, with a focus on international human rights law.
