Amneh Khoulani
Ms. Amneh Khoulani is a leading Syrian woman human rights defender and the Founder and Executive Director of Adalaty Centre, a women-led organization that seeks to elevate Syrian women's voices and experiences to impact justice and accountability in Syria. She is also the Co-Founder and Vice Chairwoman of Madaniya, which aims to protect civic space and the role of civil society in Syria, and the Co-Founder and Former Director of the Families for Freedom, a women-led movement demanding justice and freedom for those forcibly disappeared in detention centers in Syria. In 2020, Ms. Khoulani received the International Women of Courage Award from the US State Department for her efforts to achieve justice, peace and democracy. She has also participated in many international fora to advocate for the rights of Syrian women, detainees and missing persons, including by briefing the UN Security Council in August 2019.
