Ikhlass Ahmed

Ikhlass Ahmed is a Sudanese woman human rights defender and crisis response advocate currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Darfur Advocacy Group (DAG), a youth-led feminist initiative working to document human rights violations and advance justice and accountability in the Darfur region. Originally from Darfur, Ms. Ahmed has experience in grassroots organizing, providing direct support to survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), and engaging in high-level advocacy at international and regional bodies. Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, she has led DAG’s documentation and reporting of human rights violations, CRSV, abductions, and ethnic targeting of women and girls in Darfur. In addition to leading DAG, Ms. Ahmed coordinates protection of women refugees and IDPs from Darfur at the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA).

No just and lasting solution to this conflict can be achieved without the full, equal, meaningful and safe participation of women in Sudan. We are indispensable to achieving peace and ensuring justice for all survivors of CRSV, and must be included in any discussions to find a way out of the current conflict.
