Mariam Jalabi

Ms. Mariam Jalabi is a co-founder of the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, a women-led political movement advocating for women’s rights and democracy in Syria. She served for over 13 years as the Representative of the Syrian Opposition Coalition to the United Nations in New York. Her work centers on women’s political participation, inclusive peace, and security, shaping international discourse on Syria. She previously served on the Women’s Advisory Committee to the High Negotiations Committee and helped found the Syrian Non-Violence Movement. Jalabi holds degrees from McGill University and New York University, and has been recognized by Women’s eNews (2017) and Apolitical (2019) for her global leadership on gender and peacebuilding. Ms. Jalabi’s public advocacy and leadership on Syrian women's participation have proven instrumental in framing the narrative on Syria with the international community.
