Ava Strasser

Program Assistant

Ava Strasser joined the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security in April 2023. She is a Master's candidate at New York University's Center for Global Affairs, pursuing a degree in Global Affairs with a concentration in Peacebuilding. Her research focuses on the participation of displaced and diaspora women and girls in peace processes and political decision-making. Previously, she has interned with local non-profit organizations supporting the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in Michigan and has experience working in Lira, Uganda and Lesbos, Greece. Most recently, she interned at the United Nations Department of Peace Operations where she led projects on gender-responsive security sector reform. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Gender & Women’s Studies from Western Michigan University.
