Rola Roukbi

Rola Roukbi is a Syrian feminist leader, woman human rights defender, and gender equality expert. She has served as Country Director of Women Now for Development - Lebanon since 2017, leading programs on women's rights, protection, advocacy, research, and feminist movement building in Syria. She is a founding member of several prominent Syrian feminist movements, including the Syrian Women's Network, the Syrian Women's Initiative for Peace and Democracy, the Syrian Feminist Lobby, and the Syrian Women's Political Movement. 

Excellencies, rebuilding Syria is not only about rebuilding roads and homes. It is about rebuilding trust: trust between citizens and the state, trust among Syrians themselves, and trust that the law exists to protect people rather than becoming a weapon against them.

At the Security Council

Rola Roukbi, Country Director of Women Now for Development - Lebanon, was invited to brief the Security Council at a meeting to discuss the situation in Syria in August 2026.
