Peacebuilder: Razia Sultana
Ms. Razia Sultana was selected to represent civil society at the UN Security Council Open Debate on Sexual Violence in Conflict and spoke in her capacity as Senior Researcher with Kalandan Press, a coordinator of the Free Rohingya Coalition, Director of Arakan Rohingya National Organization’s women section and the founder of Rohingya Women Welfare, and on behalf of the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security.
Ms. Razia Sultana has been documenting the widespread sexual violence committed against the Rohingya and ethnic minorities in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Two reports provide evidence and testimonies of women who are survivors and victims of the violence, titled “Witness to Horror“, published in February 2017 and “Rape by Command“, published in February 2018.
